Houston County High School December Member of the Month

January 24, 2018
In an effort to recognize outstanding FCCLA members, HCHS FCCLA recognizes a Member of the Month each month. The December Member of the Month was announced on the return to school and the start of spring semester and Mary DeTota was recognized with this distinction.

Mary has been very involved with FCCLA since middle school. This is her fifth year in the organization. Every year, Mary grows her leadership more and more. Mary has attended several FCCLA leadership conferences this year, such as Fall Leadership Conference and Fall Leadership Rally. She has also competed in several FCCLA events, such as the Georgia Peanut Recipe Contest, Chili Cook-Off, and STAR Events. Recently, Mary played a large role in helping the chapter orchestrate a service project that partnered with Middle Georgia Hospice to prepare homemade freezer lasagnas and ziti to families in hospice care for the holidays.

When asked how FCCLA inspires her, Mary said, “FCCLA inspires me to do more. FCCLA inspires me to be confident, get involved, serve, and be a leader. I look forward to going farther in leadership opportunities through FCCLA and helping other students and community members see why FCCLA is “The Ultimate Leadership Experience!”

This initiative of recognizing a Member of the Month supports FCCLA’s 3 R’s of Membership: recruit, retain, and recognize members!
