Liberty Middle School LMS Can Food Drive

February 01, 2018

COVINGTON, GA, September 15, 2017– Liberty Middle School – Family, Career, Community Leaders of America, FCCLA members collected cans in an effort to feed the hungry citizens of Covington, GA. The FCCLA members took on this issue as a result of a presentation about the issue of hunger in our community made at the 2017 DISCOVER training. After the leadership training the students really went into overdrive making posters, getting help from a local elementary school, asking our members, parents, and community business owners to collect non-perishable foods items for a local shelter in Covington.

As incentive for the students to bring the cans from our school and the elementary school, we offered the class that brought the most cans a cupcake recess.

As incentive for the student who brought the most cans we offered a meal plan from one of the fast food restaurant.

On Tuesdays and Thursdays we went over to the elementary school and collected the cans from the homeroom classes.

We kept up with the progress by making a Excel spreadsheet.
