Berrien High School Project Reconnect

February 01, 2022

Project Reconnect is all about teaching high school age students the importance in reconnecting with the elderly that have been cut off from society since COVID-19 hit. We especially encourage our fellow classmates, here at Berrien County High school, to get involved in our mission and help make a difference. We started off with Christmas , the time of year when we should cherish our family the most. I set up Christmas card signing booths during each lunch so that our chapter could accumulate enough cards that each resident at a Berrien nursing home could get one. I then continued to contact local churches and get a list of every senior citizen they thought may enjoy this. A week before Christmas I delivered to every nursing home and church , some even let me personally handout the cards. After the success our chapter experienced during the Christmas season, we decided to do something special for each holiday. We are currently working on Valentine's Day now. Our goal is to collect donations of Valentine's Day treats and stuffed animals. In addition my advisor and I will have cards bought for students to sign. I am very excited to have the opportunity to lead this project and help make the elderly of Nashville, GA feel reconnected with their town.
